Letachem started to manufacture cementitious powdered paint in 1998. At the time, the product was aimed at low cost housing. The product was found to be too costly for the application to which it was aimed.

Letachem reformulated their product in 2003 with the aim to target up-market applications where quality is of utmost importance. The product, Ledacoat Cementitious Powdered Paint, was introduced in August 2005. In September 2006, Letachem launched Ledashield, a cementitious one-coat paint.
