Your home is your castle and everyone wants to keep their homes in picture perfect condition at all times. However, sometimes we do things that we don’t even think can have a cause on the appearance and structure of our homes. Just think back to the last shower you had – there was some steam in the bathroom, but as soon as you opened the door it escaped. Yes, most of the steam escaped, but a large part of it is still clinging to the walls and ceiling and can cause great damage if you don’t take the necessary precautions. With waterproof paint you can limit the amount of damage done by steam and water in areas in the home where it is most problematic. These areas include the laundry, kitchen and bathrooms.

It is therefore advisable to paint these rooms with a waterproof paint to limit the build up of mildew and other fungal growths, as well as to protect the walls beneath the paint. Because of the structure of waterproof paint like enamel, it will sit on the walls and simply evaporate. Acrylic based paints like PVA however will ‘soak’ up the moisture, causing damage to the structure of the wall and the paint. This may result in unsightly stains on your walls as well as cracks as time goes on.
