Preparing the surface for cement floor paint
The garage floor is often the last area to receive attention, mostly because of the difficulty in coating it with long lasting cement floor paint . However durable epoxy cement floor paint can provide a quality finish which will remind of a showroom.
The value of epoxy lies in its durability and the ability to resist oil and grease stains which would normally have a devastating effect on other types of coatings. Through the use of a good quality cement floor paint you can be assured of a shining and neat looking surface for the next couple of years. The secret lies in the coating, but without adequate preparation, you will only waste time and money.
Use the following guidelines to prepare the surface.
- Cover the floor with a plastic bag for one day. When you lift it after a day it should be dry and you can proceed with the coating of the surface. If there are moisture spots you cannot coat it with epoxy. Note that you cannot use epoxy if a sealer has already been applied.
- Take the time to scrub and clean the surface with applicable chemicals available from your Kings Paint outlet. By day two you will be able to apply the epoxy and on the day after you can apply a second coat.
If you find damp you will need to treat the surface first and should seek expert advice from a consultant at Kings Paint. Go down to your nearest outlet or make use of our customer care line for help in the selection of epoxy or any other durable enamel or acrylic cement floor paint to ensure a smooth and durable surface. |
